In the past few months, I have witnessed the boom of many startups at a personal level. And what is the trend they are following you ask. Well most of them want to use open source. And what is a bigger example than our own dino, Mozilla as a way of gaining experience in contributing to the expanding community.

Well, this blog is about my contribution to the Mozilla community. One of the first things we need to understand is that contribution to the community is not restricted only in terms of writing code or anything like that. If you are a designer, or a coder, Mozilla welcomes you with open arms.

Enough of beating around the bush, let's come back to the contribution. This time, it was time for me to make a contribution to the MDN (Mozilla Developer Network) pages by creating a page for one of the Firefox OS phones in the market. We know that the Firefox OS hit the market last year and has been making quite a name for itself alongside giants like Android.

The phone I reviewed and wrote about was the Huawei Ascend Y300 II, a modification of the existing Y300 which is an Android based device. Running Firefox OS on a 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon, it feels like a strong competitor to others in the same price range also providing the Adreno 203 GPU along with 5MP rear cam with LED flash and a VGA front cam. The device sports a 1730 mAH battery capable of 14Hrs worth talk time.

All in all, my contribution to the community has taken a new step forward and all I see is a bright road ahead, lots of contributions, lot of fun and knowledge to gain.
